Dr. Hannah is a graduate of Georgia State University and the Duke University School of Medicine. He completed his medical internship and Ophthalmology residency at Duke Medical Center. Dr. Hannah was certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and completed 2 years of active duty in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. before beginning private practice in Shelby, North Carolina in October 1970.

Dr. Hannah joined Morganton Eye Physicians, P.A. in 1974. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and serves as Alternate Councilor to the Academy from North Carolina. Dr. Hannah is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a member of the North Carolina Medical Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, and a member of the North Carolina Medical Society. He is also a member of the Cleveland County Medical Society.
