Dr. Willis is a native of Cartersville, Georgia. He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia and completed his medical training at the Medical College of Georgia. Following medical school, Dr. Willis completed an internship at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in Virginia. He also served two years of active duty in the U.S. Navy at the Kodiak Naval Base in Alaska. Dr. Willis was a resident in ophthalmology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
In 1974, Dr. Willis established Morganton Eye Physicians, P.A. and has since served as a general ophthalmologist concentrating in the treatment of cataract disorders.
Dr. Willis received certification from the American Board of Ophthalmology in 1976. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a member of the North Carolina Medical Society, and a professional who has dedicated his career to enhancing and preserving eyesight.

Morganton Eye Physicians, PA is pleased to announce the association of Dr. Jeremy Bonkowske for the practice of Cornea and External Disease and Surgery. Dr. Bonkowske obtained his medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine and completed an internship at the University of Missouri Department of Internal Medicine. Dr. Bonkowske completed his ophthalmology residency at Wake Forest University, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Bonkowske completed a comprehensive one-year fellowship in cornea, external diseases, and refractive surgery at the Dean McGee Eye Center at the University of Oklahoma.
Dr. Bonkowske is now accepting patients at our Morganton, Marion, Forest City, and Shelby locations.
